France Expels Radical Preacher

According to the BBC, France has deported a radical Islamist preacher from Algeria said to have given pro-jihad speeches in a mosque in north-east Paris.
Reda Ameuroud and his brother Abderahmane have been permanently banned from French territory and the French are on the verge of expelling 10 more radical Islamists in August.
The real news here is that these guys would probably not have been deported from the US. We'd have every religious liberty group, the ALCU and coincidently the French up in arms if we expelled radical Islamic preachers.

Well, truth be told, when you protect the 'freedom of speech' of the KKK, and the Neo-Nazis, it is a little tough to crack-down on another hate group. That would smack of 'profiling'.

I wish I were being funny, but alas, that is the truth.

Seems Vlad Putin hasn't had any problems silencing ABC over in Russia though!

That is the scary balance, either we have free speech or we have do not have free speech. I don't know the answer, but I believe that when someone is actively preaching against the USA and we are involved in a war, there should be some boundaries that are respected.

For instance; if an Islamic leader is preaching that all of his people go out and begin killing 'infidels' then we should be able to stop that.

I am a huge proponent of free speech. My point is not that we should clamp down on free speech, that happens to too many other freedoms already, but rather that we, the US, will always be stuck in no win situations. That is the true irony. We fight a war on terror to protect the right to bear arms, disagree, etc.
