I also heard this quote on the new show 3lbs, "Did God create man, or did man's mind create God?"
The image of the cross wrapped in the flag is idolatry and quite frankly sickening.
This to me is so typical of our worldview - the way to fix/improve anything is to Americanize it. We tried to impose democracy on Iraq, because it is the way we do it and therefore must be the ideal. How misguided.
I think that picture conveys a dangerous sentiment because it says that we are right/good/whatever. Abortion is legal, murder and greed are rampant. We are not as wonderful as we think we are. The true danger here is our arrogance.
