"I refuse to accept despair as the final response to the ambiguities of history. I refuse to accept the idea that the "isness" of man's present nature makes him morally incapable of reaching up for the eternal "oughtness" that forever confronts him." - Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Oslo, Norway, December 10, 1964.

O, South Africa dear land
The country of my birth became the first African nation to legalize homosexual marriage this week. Seems like a brilliant move for a country with the world's highest rate of HIV positive people.
I would have expected this -- only because SA is one of the more 'advanced' and Western-leaning countries...
Seems to be all the rage in the homelands of many SA folks, i.e. Great Britain and the Netherlands.
The Netherlands passed the same-sex resolution in 2000 (I guess they are progressive), and of course, the UK just entered into the same-sex marriage arena...
South Africa has morphed from an good mix of US and UK western culture to EU/UN wannabe state. I think that is obviously heading in the wrong direction morally. The problem is that they think it makes them "enlightened."
